Welcome to the St James Liver Transplant Support Group website – known as St James LTSG for short.
The St James Liver Transplant Support Group was established in 1989.
Following her transplant Janet, secretary and co-founder of the group soon discovered the want and need of a support group.
With the encouragement of the late Professor Giles and the support from the brilliant transplant team the group had their 1st meeting in November 1989. The group is now 26 years old and continues to grow and develop. The support group has a good solid reputation and has also won several awards.
The group has grown significantly over the years and has over 500 members throughout the UK & abroad who are supported in a variety of ways. We offer support via, face to face, telephone, online, Facebook and support group get togethers. If you would like a liver transplant buddy we can do our best to connect you by age, gender, liver disease or closest to where you live. Your choice. We offer support in the strictest of confidence. For more information please see our Diary Page.
We meet to share our experiences in a social setting and offer emotional and practical support to each other and patients and their families.
We do not offer or encourage medical advice, that is strictly for the health professionals. We refer those requests to the transplant team.
Patients, pre & post-transplant and their families/carers can access support as often or as little as they like.
We enjoy a good relationship with the Liver Unit, clinicians, coordinators and staff at St. James Hospital and to support the excellent work carried out by the doctors, nurses and staff on the Unit.
If we do not have the answers we would readily signpost to the right team.
Please do not hesitate to contact any of our helpful committee. Further information on the Contacts Page.
Above all we are a warm welcoming and friendly group and have a wealth of members readily available to offer support and friendship.
Thank you for taking the time to visit our website. We look forward to any suggestions you may have.
Janet, Dave, Leena & Joe
